This is a really great collection, a strong 4 maybe even a 4。5 just for how much I love some of the stories。 I'm going to kinda talk about each trade in the arcs how I see them。 So this will be a long review。The first one, Marked For Death, is everything Frank Miller didn't write which is mostly kinda meh, the art is good and there's some fun 80s writing but I don't have a lot to say。 The issue with the Gladiator is probably the most important。Gangwar and Last Hand have his run that he wrote and This is a really great collection, a strong 4 maybe even a 4。5 just for how much I love some of the stories。 I'm going to kinda talk about each trade in the arcs how I see them。 So this will be a long review。The first one, Marked For Death, is everything Frank Miller didn't write which is mostly kinda meh, the art is good and there's some fun 80s writing but I don't have a lot to say。 The issue with the Gladiator is probably the most important。Gangwar and Last Hand have his run that he wrote and overall it's really enjoyable。 It has it's ups and downs but mostly I liked it, my biggest complaint is that some story arcs don't get satisfying conclusions in and kinda fall flat。 That said the last two issues are incredible and 191 encompasses all the great stuff about the Daredevil character in a very unique way。Born Again is probably my favorite arc in this entire collection。 Mazzuchelli has truly beautiful artwork and it tells the stunning tale of what can be looked at as Daredevils lowest point。 It's dark and every character has a part to play。 I think the prologue story with the Gladiator is a perfect way to set the tone and that rogue has some of the most interesting development (I see him as the cornerstone of Matt Murdock's endeavors succeeding in their full extent)。Elektra Lives Again has the short stories and the two graphic novels that I think are where his original run gets completed。 Love and War completes the Kingpin stuff and Lives Again completes the Elektra/Bullseye。 Elektra and Bullseye arguably had a satisfying ending in the original run but I think this story elegantly adds to it and makes it feel more like a grand finale ending。 It's truly a masterpiece of the comic form and has some truly inspired and skilled uses of storytelling (really weird story though。)Elektra Assassin is really damn weird and confusing and feels the most out of place。 I've never read a Miller book quite this abstract, Sienkiewicz art definitely helps but overall it didn't grab me too much。 I could see myself liking it more on a reread。 Man Without Fear is a solid origin story and I really enjoyed fitting it into the flashbacks in the original run。 Their are some obvious inconsistencies but I could make an easy head canon that makes them fit together。Finally the Companion has all the bonus material, sketches, scripts, and interviews and it was a fun read。Again this run is famous for a reason and its definitely an enjoying collection。 This review however is way too giant and I hope somebody finds it helpful or even someone that just bothers reading it。 Either way the completionist in me loves this collection。 。。。more
